Ms. Lillian Rogers

With sadness in our hearts the Davis funeral home of Ocilla Georgia announces the death and funeral services for Ms. Lillian Rogers of Ocilla Georgia.  Born Sept. 18, 1940 in Irwin county Ocilla Georgia to the late Charlie and Jennie Mae Roger. Ms. Rogers passed into eternal rest on Monday April 24, 2017 at Fitzgerald Life care center in Fitzgerald Georgia.  She leaves to cherish her memories, Two brothers: Mr. Joseph Rogers of Ocilla Georgia, and Mr. Daniel Rogers of Queens New York.  also a host of nieces, nephews, cousins relatives and friends.  Services for Ms. Lillian Rogers will be held on Saturday April 29, 2019 at 4:00 p.m. at the chapel of the Davis funeral home in Ocilla.  Rev. Nathan Bathell will deliver the Eulogy.  The Davis funeral home of Ocilla has charge of all arrangements.

Mr. Roy Anthony McElhaney

Roy Anthony McElhaneyWith sincere sympathy the Davis funeral home of Ocilla Georgia announces the death and funeral services for Mr. Roy Anthony McElhaney, of 915 North Oak Street in Ocilla, Georgia.  Born November 13, 1959 to the late Coy and Gladys McElhaney of Ocilla Georgia and Mrs. Louise Edwards of Miami Fla.  Mr. McElhaney enjoyed welding, family and friends. 

Mr. McElhaney passed into eternal rest at his home on Thursday April 20, 2017.  He leaves to cherish his memories, his children:  Mrs. Yolanda (Eric) Chaney of Ocilla Georgia, Ms. Tiffany Royal of Fitzgerald Georgia, Mr. Tori Pressley of Ocilla Georgia, Mr. Rashad Turner of Tucson Az. Mr. Anthony McElhaney of Atlanta Georgia, and Alexander Smith of Fitzgerald Georgia and Marcus Wilcox of Valdosta Georgia. Reared as his own Ms. Tausha Washington (Lavosky) of Jacksonville Fla. biological mother:  Mrs. Louise Edwards of Miami Fla. siblings, aunts, uncles, cousins relatives and sorrowing friends. 

Funeral services for Mr. Roy Anthony McElhaney will be held on Saturday April 29, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. from the Holsey  Chapel CME church, 515 East Suwannee Street, Fitzgerald Georgia.  where the Rev. Anthony Davis is the Host pastor.  The eulogy will be delivered by Rev. Charles Anderson of Ocilla Georgia.  Mr.  McElhaney will lie in state at the Davis funeral home 301 North Oak Street in Ocilla from Friday morning 10:00 until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday morning at the church until the funeral hour.  Repass will be served at the church following the service.   The Davis funeral home of Ocilla has charge of all arrangements.

Annie Mae "Lil Sister" Laster

AnnieMaeLasterOn June 10, 1941 in the small community of Ocilla Georgia, Annie Mae "Lil Sister" Laster was born to the late William "Will" and Rebecca "Becky" Laster. She attend the Irwin county school system, and remain in the community all of her life. Ms. Laster was well loved by her friends and family. Ms. Laster departed this life at her home in Ocilla surrounded by family and friends on April 15, 2017. Along with her parent, Ms. Laster was preceded in death by her son: Mr. Horace Laster, three sisters: Ms. Abbie Laster, Ms. Mamie Laster and Mrs. Elizabeth Meddler also one brother: Mr. A.C. Laster Sr. Annie Mae enjoyed working in her yard, crossword puzzles and watching western movies.

Ms. Laster leaves to cherish her memories: Four sisters: Mrs. Lillian King of Kissimmee Fla. Ms. Bettye Laster of Miami Fla. Mrs. Shirley Foster and Ms. Mae Will Laster both of Ocilla Georgia. Three grandchildren: Mr. Horace Harris, Mr. Michael Harris and Mr. Lee McDuffie all of Ocilla Ga. Daughter in law: Ms. Alice Faye Harris of Ocilla Ga. Two special nieces: Mrs. Sonya Reynolds, and Ms. Allie Magwood. A special stepson Mr. Fred C. Thomas Jr. A special thanks to Ms. April Jackson, Ms. Mary Joyce Ross, and Ms. Brenda Hall for all your help during our time of need. A host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins relatives and friends. A limb has fallen from the family tree. I keep hearing a voice that says, "Grieve not for me". Remember the best times we've shared. Remember my voice, remember my name, I'll be living in heaven, there's no more pain.

Funeral services for Ms. Annie Mae Laster will be held on Saturday April 22, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at the New Bethel Baptist Church 401 East 7th. Street Ocilla Georgia where the Rev. Christopher R. Douglas is pastor. Eulogy will be delivered by her Nephew minister Steven McGauley. Interment will follow in the Ocilla city cemetery on East Valdosta Ave. Ms. Laster will lie in state at the Davis Funeral Home in Ocilla Friday morning 10:00 until Friday evening 7:00, and Saturday Morning 10:00 until 12:30 p.m. and at the church 1:00p.m. until the funeral hour. The Davis funeral Home of Ocilla has charge of all arrangements. 

Sis. Minnie E. Bivens

Minnie Eva BivinsThe Davis Funeral home of Ocilla Sadly announces the death and home going services for Sis. Minnie E. Bivens of 504 North Lincoln street in Ocilla Georgia.  Born July 28, 1924 in Barbra county Alabama, to the late Jacob and Versie Johnson.   Mother Bivens departed this life on Thursdayevening March 30, 2017 at Pruitt health care in Ocilla.   Upon arrival in Ocilla Irwin county Georgia, Mother Bivens Joined the Mathis Chapel Baptist church where she served faithfully as an Usher, mother of the church and as a choir member until her health failed.  She was employed as a house keeper for Dr. W. C. Sams for over 40 years.  At an early age she met and married Dea. R. C. Bivens who preceded her in death.   Mother leaves to cherish her memories; One daughter Mrs. Sophia Kay Johnson of Ocilla Georgia.  Two sons: Mr. Winfred Hall of Ocilla Georgia and Mr. Ricky Hall of Atlanta Georgia.  Three grandchildren:  Mr. Bryan (Tracy) Dennis of Des Moirés Iowa, Mr. Jerry (Kim) Martin of Ocilla Georgia, Mrs. Tamieka (Randy) Morgan of Avlamo Italy.  A host of cousin, nieces, nephews relatives and friends.
Celebration of life for Mother Minne Eva Bivens of Ocilla will be held on Monday morning April 3, 2017 at 11:00 from the Mathis chapel Baptist on Brushy Creek church road in Ocilla where Rev. Kenneth Glover is pastor. Evangelist Adrian Bellamy will delivery the eulogy,  interment will follow in the Ocilla cemetery on North Oak Street.  Mother Bivens will lie in state at the Davis funeral home in Ocilla Sunday morning 10:00 until 7:00Sundayevening. and Monday morning at the church 10:00 until the funeral hour.  The family will receive friends at the church social hall for repass after the committal service.  The Davis funeral home of Ocilla has charge of all arrangements.

Deacon David Anderson Ross Sr.

 David Anderson RossWith sadness in our heart the Davis Funeral Home of Ocilla Georgia announces the death and home going  services for Deacon David Anderson Ross Sr.  Born  August 21,  1947 in Irwin county to the late William and Viola Goolsby Ross.  Deacon Ross departed this life on Thursday evening  March 31, 3017 at Pruitt health Care center in Ocilla Georgia.  At an early age he join the church of God by Faith in Ocilla where he served as a faithful deacon  until his health failed.  As a young man he met and married the love of his life: Mrs. Sadie Campbell Ross aka "Mae".  Deacon Ross leaves to cherish his memories:  His wife of 52 lovely years,  Sis. Sadie Mae Ross of Ocilla Georgia,  Children:  David (Dalia) Ross of Glennville Georgia, Ms. Debera Askew of Fitzgerald, Mrs. Jennifer Smith of Fitzgerald Georgia, Mr. Steven (Jody) Ross of Wray Georgia, Mr. Jhalesa (Octavia) Williams of Warner Robins Georgia, and Mrs. Denise Laster of Ocilla Georgia.  Sibling: Mr. Clarence (Inette) Ross of Ocilla Georgia, Mr. William Ross of Fitzgerald Georgia, Mrs. Blondell Tucker and Mrs. Ruby Arnold of Ocilla Georgia.  Two special brother -in-laws: Mr. Danny (Debra) Richardson of Ocilla Georgia and Mr. Jermaine Richardson.  18 grandchildren, 15 great grandchildren a host of nieces nephews cousins relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Deacon David Anderson Ross Sr. will be held on Sunday April 2, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. from the empower temple church of God by Faith located at 601 North Oak Street in Ocilla where the pastor Rev. Kenneth Moore will delivery the eulogy.  Rev. Frank Robinson will officiate,  Interment will follow in the Ocilla city cemetery.  Deacon Ross will lie in state from Friday morning 10:00 until 7:00 p.m. and Sunday morning 10:00 until 1:30 p.m. and at  the church until the funeral hour.  The family will receive friends at the neighborhood center at 420 North Oak Street after the committal service for repass.  The Davis funeral home of Ocilla has charge of all Arrangements.

Mrs. Ida M. Armstrong

Armstrong will be held on Saturday February 25, 2017 at the West Fletcher cemetery in Alapaha Georgia with Rev. Johnny Davis officiating.
