Born December 6, 1962 in Fitzgerald Georgia to the late Mr. Eddie Williams and Ms. Geraldine Brown.  A graduate of Fitzgerald High school, Lay  truly  had a love for people and loved making them smile, which led her to becoming  a Dental assistance at  Dr. Wayne Maris's  Dental clinic in Fitzgerald Georgia.  A strong believer in her faith in God, Lay along with her husband was  faithful members of the Little Flock Missionary Baptist church in Gladys Georgia under the leadership of Bishop Richard R. Denning. 

Mother Iona Moreland Murrell

Iona MurrellWith heart felt sympathy, the Davis Funeral home 301 North Oak street, Ocilla Georgia announces the death and Home going celebration for mother Iona Moreland Murrell of Ocilla Georgia.  Born July 25, 1925 in Ocilla Irwin county Georgia to the late Harry and Georgia Miller Moreland. A dictated member of the Mathis Chapel Missionary Baptist church, mother Murrell served as an usher and many other capacities of the church.  She was preceded in death by one son: Mr. Eddie Murrell Jr.  Mother Murrell leaves to cherish her memories her children: Mr. Edward Murrell of Lithonia, Ga., Mr. Earnest (Yvonne) Murrell of Jacksonville Fla., Ms. Patricia Eunice and Ms. Gertha Murrell of Jacksonville Fla.  One daughter in law Ms. Arlinda Murrell of Ocilla Ga.  Siblings:  Mr. Roosevelt Moreland of Jacksonville Fla., sister in law Ms. Lillie Moreland of Brunswick Ga.  Grandchildren: Eric (Lidia) Murrell, Lithonia Ga.,  Gray (Tammy) Murrell of Stockbridge Ga., Brittany (Jermille) Murrell Freeman and Cheryl Eunice of Jacksonville Fla.  Charlene (Tony) Murrell Smith of Stockbridge Ga.  and Varetta (Moses) Murrell Allen of Blackville, South Carolina.  Also a host of great grands,nieces nephews cousins relatives and friends.
A home going celebration for mother Iona Moreland Murrell is planned for Saturday September 15, 2018, 11:00 a.m. from the Rehoboth fellow church where the Rev. Melvin D. Harper lll is pastor.  Rev. Dr. Terry L. Jones pastor of Metropolitan African Methodist Episcopal church  of Hartford Ct. will deliver the eulogy, Interment will follow in the Ocilla city cemetery on North Oak street in Ocilla.  Mother Murrell will lie in state at the Davis funeral home in Ocilla, Friday morning 10:00 until 7:00 p.m. and at the church Saturday morning 10:00 until the funeral hour.  The Davis funeral home of Ocilla has charge of all arrangements.

Ms. Sarah Mae Pickett

With sincere sympathy the Davis funeral home 301 North Oak street, Ocilla Georgia announces the death and home going celebration for Ms. Sarah Mae Pickett.  Born October 7, 1948 to the late Earnest and Irene Pickett  in Ocilla Irwin county Georgia.  Ms. Pickett received her public school education from the Irwin county school system.  She departed this life on September 6, 2018.  She leaves to cherish her memories her children:  Mr. Eddie Colbert (Sarah) of Lakeland Ga., Mr. Robert Lee Colbert and Mr. Marshall D. Colbert both of Ocilla Ga., Mr. Curtis J. Colbert of Fitzgerald Ga., and Ms. Betty  of Ocilla Ga.  One sister: Ms. Christine Pickett of Fitzgerald Ga.  Two brothers: Mr. Earnest Pickett Jr. of Nashville Ga., and Mr. Herman Pickett of Ocilla Ga.  Eight Grandchildren and One Great grandchild.  also a host of nieces nephews, cousins relatives and friends.

Mrs. Doretha C. Harris

Harris, 405 North Cherry Street Ocilla Georgia.  Born March 29, 1944 to the late Elijah and Essie Mae Frances Ty-Cobb in Ocilla Irwin county Georgia.  Mrs. Harris is survived by her children:  Ms. Gloria Cobb of Ocilla Ga., Ms. Frances Cradic of Valdosta Ga.,  Ms. Vanessa (Justin) Harris of Douglas Ga.  Mr. Anthony Cobb, Mr. Terry Cradic (LaShawn) of Orlando Fla., Mr. Rodney Harris of Valdosta Ga., Mr. Ozee Harris , Mr. Willie Harris Jr. of Fitzgerald Ga. and Mr. Otis Harris of Jacksonville Fla.  One sister: Mrs. Elizabeth (Oscar) Beacham of Orlando Fla.  24 grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren, nieces nephews cousins relatives and friends.

Mr. Matthew Johnson Sr.

Born February 11, 1935 in Valdosta Lowndes county Georgia to the late Joseph and Georgia Howard Johnson.  Mr. Johnson departed this life on Monday August 13, 2018 at Coffee Regional Medical Center, Douglas Georgia surrounded by his loving Family. Mr. Johnson is survived by his wife: Mrs. Ida Mae George Johnson of Ocilla.  Children: Ms. Betty Johnson of Miami Fla., Ms. Jennifer Johnson, Mr. Douglas (Debra) Johnson, Mrs. Precious Blanding all of Ocilla.  Ms. Jamie Blanding of Atlanta Georgia.  Sibling:  Ms. Betty White of Miami Fla., Ms. Mary Johnson of Valdosta Ga., Mr. Mark Johnson of Miami Fla. and Mr. Luke Johnson of Valdosta Ga.  also a host of grandchildren, great grandchildren, brother in laws, sister in laws daughter and son in laws, nieces, nephews, cousins relatives and friends.

Mr. Willie Edward "Bummer" Stepherson

Willie StephersonWith sadness in our hearts the Davis funeral home  301 North Oak street Ocilla, Georgia announces the death and home going celebration for Mr. Willie Edward  "Bummer" Stepherson of 691 Broxton Highway, Fitzgerald Georgia.  Born May 14, 1941 In Irwin county, to the late Deacon William "Bud" J. Stepherson and the late mother Lila Clemons Stepherson. Uncle Bummer as he was affectionately known by many, was educated in the Irwin county school system. Willie accepted the lord as his personal savior at an early age as an active member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist church in Osierfield Georgia.  Willie cultivated and developed his professional career in Danbury, Connecticut for many years as an employee of the Shepherd Warehouse Company.  He also, maintained his spiritual relationship with God as a member of the Mt. Pleasant AME Zion Church until he relocated to Fitzgerald Georgia and recommitted to the Friendship Missionary Baptist church of Osierfield Georgia.
