Moses Hyman and the late Mrs. Rebacca Lee Hyman.  Mr. Hyman received God's call to his eternal home on Saturday January 7, 2023 at Dorminey Medical center in Fitzgerald Georgia.  Mr. Hyman is survived by his children: Mr. Latwaine and Ms. Katrina Hyman, Mr. Tyris Hyman, Mr. Rodriguez Hyman and Mr. Jonathan Hyman all of Ocilla Georgia, Mr. Corey and Mrs. Tyra Hyman of Jacksonville North Carolina.  Siblings: Mrs. Velma Cooper of Jacksonville Florida, Mrs. Thelma Harrell of Norristown Pa., Mr. General and Mrs. Gwendolyn Hyman of Jacksonville Florida, Mrs. Betty Jean and Mr. Robert Tomberlin and Mr. Willie Hyman all of Ocilla Georgia along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins relatives and friends.  A home going celebration for Mr. Charlie Hyman Sr. is planned for Saturday January 14, 2023 at 2:30 p.m. from the Oak Grove cemetery Highway 32 West in Irwinville Georgia where Bishop Warren Manley will deliver the eulogy and committal.  Mr. Hyman will lie in state at the Davis funeral home in Ocilla Friday morning 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. The Davis funeral home of Ocilla has charge of all arrangements.

Ms. Josephine Ewing Johnson

Josephine EwingFather we stretch our hands to thee, no other help we know.  If you withdraw yourself from us, we have nowhere to go.  With sadness in our heart, the Davis funeral home, 301 North Oak street, Ocilla Georgia   31774 pause to announce the death of Ms. Josephine Ewing Johnson of Ocilla.  Born April 25, 1952 in Ocilla Georgia to the late Ms. Anna Lee Ewing.  Ms. Johnson received God's call to the eternal home on Wednesday January 4, 2023 at Dorminey Medical center in Fitzgerald Georgia.  She is survived by her children: Ms. Bessie Ann and Mr. Ulysses Johnson and Mrs. Heather and Mr. Marice Glover all of Douglas Georgia.  One sister Ms. Jearldine Ewing of Ocilla Georgia, along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.  Home going services for Ms. Josephine Ewing Johnson is planned for Saturday January 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. from the New Bethel Baptist church, 401 East 7th. street Ocilla, where Rev. Christopher R. Douglas serves as pastor and will deliver the eulogy.  Mrs. Johnson will lie in state at the Davis funeral home in Ocilla, Friday morning 11:00 until 6:00 p.m. Interment will follow in the Ocilla city cemetery, 301 East Valdosta Ave. in Ocilla. The Davis funeral home of Ocilla has charge of all arrangements.

Mrs. Mildred Wylene Payne Moss

Mildred MossWhat a friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear.  What a privilege it is to carry, everything to God in prayer.  Oh what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pains we bear.  All because we do not carry, everything to God in prayer.  With sincere sympathy, the Davis funeral home, 301 North Oak street, Ocilla Georgia 31774, pause to announce the death and home going celebration for Mrs. Mildred Wylene Payne Moss of 504 North Fieldstone Drive in Ocilla Georgia.  Born May 20, 1927 in Ocilla Georgia to the late Mrs. Mammie Wynn Payne and the late Mr. Willie Payne.  Mrs. Moss received God's call from labor to reward peacefully on Saturday December 24, 2022 at Tifton Rehabilitation Center  in Tifton Georgia.  She is survived by her children:  Mr. Jerry and Mrs. Fran Moss of Tifton Georgia and Mrs. Jennifer and Mr. Jimmie Turner of Fitzgerald Georgia, along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.  A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Mildred Wylene Payne Moss is planned for Thursday, December 29, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from the Davis funeral home chapel in Ocilla.  Rev Anthony Davis will deliver the eulogy, interment will follow in the Ocilla city cemetery, 601 North Oak street in Ocilla.  Mrs. Moss will lie in state at the Davis funeral home in Ocilla, on Wednesday 11:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m.  The Davis funeral home of Ocilla has charge of all arrangements.

Mary Lee Smith DeBerry

The battle is fought, the victory is won, enter thy master's joy.  With sadness in our heart.  The Davis funeral home, 301 North Oak street, Ocilla Georgia   31774, pause to announce the death and home going celebration for mother Mary Lee Smith DeBerry of 807 North Elm street, Ocilla Georgia.   Born September 15, 1941 in Berrian county, Alapaha Georgia, to the late Mrs. Rosa Mae Scrivins Smith and the late Mr. Timothy Smith.   Mrs. Deberry  received God's call from labor to reward on October 31, 2022 at Atrium Health Navicent Health in Macon Georgia.  Mrs. Deberry is survived by her children: Mrs. Dona and Mr. Theodis McClain of Ocilla Georgia, Mr. Melba and Mrs. Leila Deberry of Macon Georgia, Mr. Darreyl Deberry and Mr. Gerald Deberry both of Ocilla Georgia, Mr. Lontonta Deberry of Fitzgerald Georgia. Siblings: Ms. Rosa Smith, Mr. Waymon Smith, Ms. Carletha Nixon, Ms. Wilhelmina Smith, and Ms. Edwina Reeves all of Alapaha Georgia. Mr. Rudolph Smith of Norcross Georgia, along with several grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.  A home going celebration for mother Mary Lee DeBerry, is planned for Sunday November 6, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. from the Little Flock Missionary Baptist church, highway 158 Gladys Georgia, where her pastor Bishop Richard R. Denning Jr. will deliver the eulogy and committal. Interment will follow in the Luke cemetery in Berrian county.   Mother DeBerry will lie in state at the Davis funeral home in Ocilla Saturday morning 10:00 until 6:00 p.m. and at the church 11:30 a.m. Sunday until the funeral hour The Davis funeral home of Ocilla has charge of all arrangements.

Charlie GambleA few more years shall roll, a few more seasons come.  And we shall be with those that rest, asleep within the tomb.  A few more struggles here, a few more pardons over.  A few toils, a few more tears, and we shall weep no more.  Then O my lord prepare, my soul for that great day.  O wash me in thy precious blood and take my sins away: and so, on the hymn goes.    With heartfelt sympathy, the Davis funeral home, 301 North Oak Street, Ocilla Georgia, pause to announce the death and home going celebration for Mr. Charlie James Gamble aka Lil Bo.  Born July 9,1938 in Ocilla, Irwin county  Georgia to the late Mr. John Thomas Gamble and the late Mrs. Carrie Tucker Gamble.  Mr. Gamble received God's call to his internal rest on Thursday October 13, 2022 at Coffee Regional Medical center in Douglas Georgia.  Mr. Gamble is survived by his children: Mrs. Constance and Minister Maurice Lake, and Ms. Rosie Faye Gamble all of Ocilla Georgia.  Stepchildren: Ms. Rita Hayward of Orlando Florida, Ms. Debbie Atkins of Ashburn Georgia, Mrs. Ruby Hunter and Mr. David Bennett of Lakeland Florida, Ms. Jennifer Cross Prather of Lakeland Florida, Mr. Napoleon and Mrs. Regina Cross of Tampa Florida, and Mr. Tony Lamar and Mrs. Reitha Cross of Rebecca Georgia.  His siblings: Mrs. Odessa Merritt of Ocilla Georgia, Mrs. Carrie Bell Bryant of Ambrose Georgia, Mr. Samuel Gamble and Mrs. Willie Mae Cherry both of Winston Salem North Carlonia.  Several foster children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.  A home going celebration for Mr. Charlie James Gamble is planned for Saturday October 22, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. from the Pleasant Grove Baptist church cemetery, Peasant Grove church road in Irwin county.  His son-in-law, minister Maurice Lake will deliver the eulogy.  Mr. Gamble will lie in state at the Davis funeral home in Ocilla, Friday morning 10:00 until 6:00 p.m.  The Davis funeral home of Ocilla has charge of all arrangements.

Douglas Taylor the first and Mrs. Shelia Edwards Taylor (Martin).  Mr. Taylor received God's call to his eternal home on Friday September 16, 2022, at Memorial Health University Medical Center, in Savannah Georgia.  He is survived by his parents: Mrs. Shelia and Mr. Johnny Martin of Ocilla, Georgia and Rev. Douglas and Mrs. Bridgette Taylor of Fitzgerald Georgia.  His siblings: Mr. Douglas E. Taylor ll, Mrs. Olivia Taylor Cooper, Mr. Dustin B. Taylor, and Mrs. Shalanda Taylor Ferguson.  Stepbrothers:  the late Mr. Johnny Martin Jr. Mr. Jeremy Martin, Mr. Jaylen Martin and Mr. Isaiah Bryant. Stepsisters: Mrs. Natasha Martin Thrower and Ms. Laqaesha Shaw, along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.  A home going celebration for Mr. Desmond Isaiah Taylor is planned for Saturday September 24, 2022 at 1:00 p.m. from the Irwin County High School Gym, 101 Chieftan circle, Ocilla Georgia.  His pastor Rev. James C. Curtis will deliver the eulogy and comital.  Interment will follow in the Ocilla city cemetery, 301 East Valdosta Ave. in Ocilla.  Mr. Taylor will lie in state at the Davis funeral home in Ocilla, Friday morning 10:00 until 6:00 p.m. and Saturday morning 10:00 until 11:30.  The Davis funeral home of Ocilla has charge of all arrangements.
