Mrs. Florine Smith Glover

It is with sincere sympathy, the Davis funeral home 301 North Oak Street, Ocilla Georgia   31774 pause to announce the death and home going celebration for Mrs. Florine Smith Glover of Jacksonville Florida, formerly of Ocilla Georgia.  Born March 19th, 1936 in Eastman Georgia to the late Mr. Lester Jermone Smith Sr. and the late Mrs. Susie Marie George Smith.  Mrs. Glover received God's call to her eternal home on Thursday January 2, 2025, in Jacksonville Florida. She leaves to cherish her memories, her children: Mr. Ray A. and Mrs. Sarena Glover, and Mrs. Angela M. Glover.  Her siblings: Mrs. Elouise and Mr. Willie Earby, Mrs. Brenda "Sue" and Mr. James Paulk, and Mr. Lester Jermone Jr. and Mrs. Vernell Smith.  Grandchildren: Deangelo Sr. and La'Trice Glover, Adrian and Donnita Glover, Ricky Jr. and Shanika Glover, Ricky and Terri Ray, Chanel and Michael Towson, Gabrielle Gribble, Jayson Glover, and Rayniah Glover along with host of great grandchildren, great great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins relatives and friends.  A home going celebration for Mrs. Florine Smith Glover is planned for Saturday January 18, 2025, at 1:00 p.m. from the Pleasant Grove 1st. Baptist church, 217 East 7th. street in Ocilla where Rev. James C. Curtis serves as pastor.  Rev. Melvin D. Harper will deliver the eulogy and committal.  Interment will follow in the Ocilla city cemetery, 301 East Valdosta Ave. Mrs. Glover will lie in state at the Davis funeral home in Ocilla, Saturday morning, 10:00 until the funeral hour.  The Davis funeral home of Ocilla has charge of all arrangements.

Mr. Carl Franklin Glover

Carl GloverWith faith in God, you can climb the highest hill.  With faith in God, you can conquer every ill.  With faith in God, the billow ceased to roll, with faith in God I know my anchor holds.  It is with sincere sympathy, the Davis funeral home, 301 North Oak Street, Ocilla Georgia   31774 pause to announce the death and home going celebration for Mr. Carl Franklin Glover of Ocilla.  Born January 21, 1952, in Ocilla Georgia to the late Mr. Mack Glover and the late Mrs. Lady B Moreland Glover.  Mr. Glover received God's call to his everlasting home on Wednesday January 15, 2025, at the Life Care Center, Fitzgerald Georgia.  He leaves to cherish his memories, his children: Mr. Vincent Cunningham of Miami Florida and Mr. Horace Young of Ocilla Georgia. His brother and sister-in-law: Mr. Charles and Mrs., Lottie Glover of Douglas Georgia.  A special niece and nephew: Mrs. Vivian and Mr. Curtis Reeves of Riverdale Georgia along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins relatives and friends.  A home going celebration for Mr. Carl Franklin Glover is planned for Saturday January 25, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. from the Mathis Chapel Missionary Baptist church on Brushy Creek Road in Ocilla.  The pastor Rev. Edward Glover will deliver the Eulogy and committal.  Interment will follow in the Ocilla city cemetery, 301 East Valdosta Ave. in Ocilla.  Mr. Glover will lie in state at the Davis funeral home in Ocilla, Friday morning 11:00 until 6:00 p.m.  The Davis funeral home of Ocilla has charge of all arrangements.

Mr. Steven J. Cobb

Mrs. Gussie Clara Davis Phillips

Gussie PhillipsThe entire community of Ocilla and Irwin County mourns the loss of Mrs. Gussie Clara Davis Phillips.  She was a lifelong resident of this area of South Georgia born on February 25, 1924, in the same home on East 6th Street where she departed life late in the evening of January 2, 2025. 

Mrs. Phillips was the last remaining child of Frank and Leona Davis and is survived by her daughter Karen Phillips and her husband, Handy Johnson, sister-in-law, Josephine S. Davis, and the offspring of her seven siblings - Clarence, Leoanard Mae, Annie Lee, Badger, Stephen, Ernest, and Curtis. 

Davis Funeral Home has been charged with the funeral arrangements. The celebration of her life will be held on Saturday, January 11, 2025, at 2:30 PM at the Irwin County high school auditorium, 149 Chiefton Circle, Ocilla Georgia   31774.

The service will be livestreamed on the Davis Funeral Home Face Book page at davistysonfh.  Interment will be at the Ocilla Northeast Cemetery.

Mrs. Lucie Louise Biven Jones

Thro' many dangers, toils and snares, I have already come: Tis grace hath brought me safe thus far, and grace will lead me on.  It is with sadness in our hearts, the staff of the Davis funeral home, 301 North Oak Street, Ocilla Georgia   31774, pause to announce the death of Mrs. Lucie Louise Biven Jones.  Born June 14, 1975, in Ocilla Irwin County Georgia to Mrs. Alice Marie Moore Biven and Mr. Willie Biven Sr.  Mrs. Jones received God's call to her enteral home on Friday December 27, 2024, at the Irwin County hospital, in Ocilla Georgia.  She leaves to cherish her memories, her children: Mr. Marco Bivens, Mr. Lakerio Lott, Mr. Quatavious Bivens and Ms. Au'Jyne Bivens.  Her father: Mr. Willie Bivens Sr.  Her siblings: Mr. Willie Bivens Jr., Mr. Johnny Bivens, Mrs. Elvira Ashley, Mr. Cora McCray and Mr. Danny Moore along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins relatives and friends.  Home going celebrations for Mrs. Lucie Louise Bivens Jones are incomplete at this time and will be announced later by the Davis funeral home of Ocilla.  The Davis funeral home of Ocilla has charge of all arrangements.

Pass me not O gentle savior, hear my humble cry.  While on others thou art calling, do not pass me by.  Let me at a throne of mercy, find a sweet relief; kneeling there in deep contrition, help my unbelief.  It is with sincere sympathy, the Davis funeral home, 301 North Oak Street, Ocilla Georgia   31774 pause to announce the death of Mr. Charles Dorsey Jr. of 318 South Grant Street, Fitzgerald Georgia   31750.  Born January 15, 1954, Miami Florida to Viola Sinclair Dorsey and Mr. Charles Dorsey Sr.  Mr. Dorsey received God's call to his eternal home on Tuesday December 24, 2024 at his home in Fitzgerald Georgia.  He leaves to cherish his memories, his loving and devoted wife: Mrs. Patricia Smith Dorsey of Fitzgerald Georgia.  Their children: Mr. Rudy Charles Dorsey, Mr. Charles Albert Dorsey lll, Mr. Calos Smith, Mr. Sammie Smith, Mrs. Latoya and Mr. Carman Bryan and Mrs. Kathryn and Mr. Bernard Smith along with his siblings, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, in-laws, aunts, uncles, cousins, relatives and friends.  Home going services for Mr. Charles Dorsey Jr. will be held at a later date and announced by the Davis funeral home of Ocilla.  The Davis funeral home of Ocilla has charge of all arrangements.
