Deacon William Ross Jr.
With sincere sympathy, the Davis funeral home of Ocilla Georgia announces the death and funeral services for Deacon William Ross Jr. aka "Man Boy" Born December 17, 1931 to the late William Ross Sr. and Viola Goolsby Ross of Ocilla Irwin county Georgia. Born and raised in Irwin county Deacon Ross was a life time farmer, who enjoyed fishing, hunting, going to church and spending quality time with his devoted wife and family.
Earlier in life he join the Pleasant Grove missionary Baptist church (Fitzgerald) Irwin county where he was ordained as a deacon. Deacon Ross served as an usher and other auxiliaries of the church and remained a faithful member until the church resolved.
Deacon Ross was preceded in death by his faithful and devoted wife of 66 years, Mrs. Mary Madgelene Dent Ross. Three sisters: Mrs. Ira Nell Moore, Mrs. Willie Mae Smith and Mrs. Alta Mae Wilson. Three brothers: Mr. Calvin Ross SR., Deacon David Anderson Ross Sr. and Mr. Roosevelt Ross Sr.
On Wednesday May 17, 2017 the Angel of the lord peacefully came and took Deacon Ross home to be with the lord at Pruitt Health Care Center, Fitzgerald Georgia at 4:30 p.m.
Deacon Ross leaves to cherish his memories, Eleven (11) children: Ms. Mary Joyce Ross of Ocilla Georgia, Mr. William (Olga) Ross lll of Fitzgerald Georgia, Mr. Willie James (Wylene) Ross of Ocilla Georgia, Ms. Hattie Pearl Ross, Mr. Melvin Ross of Fitzgerald Georgia, Mr. Morris (Carmen) Ross of Warner Robins Georgia, Mrs. Helen (Theophilus) Craddock, Mr. Sammy Ross, Mr. Johnny Ross, Mr. Charlie Ross, and Mr. Sidney (Lisa) Ross all of Fitzgerald Georgia. Thirty Three (33) grandchildren, Forty Six (46) great grandchildren, and Two (2) great great grandchildren. One brother: Mr. Clarence (Inette) Ross of Ocilla Georgia. Two sisters: Mrs. Ruby J. Arnold and Mrs. Blondell Tucker both of Ocilla Georgia. Sister-in-laws: Mrs. Earnestine (Columbus) Bryant of Wray Georgia, Ms. Christine Dent of Vidalia Georgia, Mrs. Margaree (James) Dean, Mrs. Betty Gayman and Ms. Idell Dent all of Miami Florida. Brother-in-laws: Mr. Moses (Debbie) Dent, Mr. J.B. (Maggie) Dent of Miami Florida, Mr. Robert (Grace) Dent of Vidalia Georgia. A host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Deacon William Ross Jr. aka "Man Boy" will be held on Saturday May 27, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. from the Empowerment Temple Church of God By Faith located at 601 North Oak Street Ocilla Georgia, where the Rev. Kenneth Moore is pastor. His nephew Rev. Calvin Ross will deliver the eulogy, interment will follow in the Ocilla city cemetery at 501 North Elm street in Ocilla Georgia. Deacon Ross will lie in state at the Davis Funeral home in Ocilla Firday morning 10:00 until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday Morning 10:00 until 12:30 P.M. and at the church 1:00 p.m. until the funeral hour.
