A voice a midnight came, she started up to hear, a mortal arrow, pierced her frame, she fell but felt no fear. Born Tuesday March 13, 1951, in Osierfield Irwin county Georgia to the late Mrs. Ella Mae Williams Barthell and the late Mr. Joe Barthell Jr. Mrs. Tyson received God's call to her heavenly home on Thursday April 30, 2026 at Coffee Regional Medical Center in Douglas Georgia surrounded with her loving and devoted family. Mama (Ms. Nella, Mama Nella, Ma) as she was known in the community and church leaves to cherish her memories, her husband of 53 years: Mr. Aldene Tyson of Ocilla Georgia. their children: Mrs. Lovonda and Mr. Lamont Edge of Ocilla Georgia, and Mrs. Chrisie and Mr. Deon Fuller of Kingsland Georgia. Grandchildren: Mrs. Miya and Mr. Jonn Hall of Cordele Georgia, Ms. D'Netria Hall, Ms. D'Shonna Hall and Mr. Ramont Edge all of Ocilla Georgia. Ms. Kiyah Fuller and Mr. Tariq Fuller both of Kingsland Georgia. Her siblings: Mrs. Betty Brown of Albany Georgia, Mrs. Linda Wilcox of Fitzgerald Georgia, Mrs. Alice Ruth of Savannah Georgia, Mr. Joe and Mrs. Mary Barthell of Wichita Kansas. A special niece, Mrs. Valarie Pope of Savannah Georgia. Brother and sister in laws: Mrs. Wanda and Rev. James Sams of St. Augustine Florida, and Mr. Maurice and Mrs. Charlene Moss of Fitzgerald Georgia. Seven great grandchildren along with a host of other nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends. A home going celebration for Mrs. Nella Tyson is planned for Tuesday May 5, 2026 at 12:00 noon, from the New Bethel Missionary Baptist church, 401 East 7th. street, Ocilla Georgia, where Rev. Dr. James Dexter Taylor Sr. serves as pastor and will deliver the eulogy and entombment. Entombment will follow in the Ocilla city cemetery, 301 East Valdosta Ave. Ocilla. Mrs. Tyson will lie in state at the Davis funeral home in Ocilla, Monday morning 10:00 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. The Davis funeral home of Ocilla has charge of all arrangements for Mrs. Nella Barthell Tyson.
