Mrs. Mary Lewis Gilyard

Father, we stretch our hands, to thee, no other help we know.  If you withdraw yourself from us, we have nowhere to go.  It is with sincere sympathy that we the staff of the Davis funeral home. 301 North Oak Street, Ocilla Georgia   31774, pause to announce the death and homegoing celebrations for Mrs. Mary Lewis Gilyard.  Born February 5, 1927, in Ocilla, Irwin County Georgia to the late Mrs. Mary Etta Jackson Lewis and the late Mr. Charles Otis Lewis.  Mrs. Gilyard received God's call to her everlasting home on Saturday, December 14, 2024, at Kitty Askins health care center in Goldsboro North Carolina.  Mrs. Gilyard leaves to cherish her memories, her children:  Ms. Karen Pat Gilyard of Lawrenceville Ga., Mr. Raymond Keith Gilyard of State College Penn. and Ms. Barbara Gilyard of Riverside Calif. along with a host of grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins relatives and friends.  A homegoing celebration for Mrs. Mary Etta Gilyard is planned for Saturday, December 21, 2024, at 11:00 a.m. from the Davis funeral home chapel in Ocilla where Rev. Dr. Louis Forsythe II, pastor of the Pleasant Grove Missionary Baptist church of Detroit Michigan will deliver the eulogy and committal.  Interment will follow in the Ocilla city cemetery, 700 North Oak Street in Ocilla Georgia.  Mrs. Gilyard will lie in state at the Davis funeral home in Ocilla, Saturday afternoon 2:00 until 6:00 p.m.  The Davis funeral home in Ocilla has charge of all arrangements.
