Mr. Willie Edward "Bummer" Stepherson

With sadness in our hearts the Davis funeral home  301 North Oak street Ocilla, Georgia announces the death and home going celebration for Mr. Willie Edward  "Bummer" Stepherson of 691 Broxton Highway, Fitzgerald Georgia.  Born May 14, 1941 In Irwin county, to the late Deacon William "Bud" J. Stepherson and the late mother Lila Clemons Stepherson. Uncle Bummer as he was affectionately known by many, was educated in the Irwin county school system. Willie accepted the lord as his personal savior at an early age as an active member of the Friendship Missionary Baptist church in Osierfield Georgia.  Willie cultivated and developed his professional career in Danbury, Connecticut for many years as an employee of the Shepherd Warehouse Company.  He also, maintained his spiritual relationship with God as a member of the Mt. Pleasant AME Zion Church until he relocated to Fitzgerald Georgia and recommitted to the Friendship Missionary Baptist church of Osierfield Georgia.

On July 28, 1966 Uncle Bummer was blessed to be joined in holy matrimony to the love of his life, Ms. Bernice (Johnson) Stepherson of Douglas Georgia. Out of this union Willie and Bernice was blessed with Two sons:  Duane Edward and Dexter Stepherson both of Fitzgerald Georgia. 

On July 22, 2018, Willie Edward Stepherson made his triumphant from labor to his heavenly reward at his home surrounded by his loving family.  In addition to his parent he was preceded in death by six siblings.  Mr. O. C. Stepherson, Mrs. Louise Callands, Mrs. Julia (Anne) Ross, Mr. James Stepherson, Mrs. Ruthie Mae Moss, and Mrs. Myrtice Cotton.  He leaves to cherish his memories, his wife: Mrs. Bernice J. Stepherson of Fitzgerald Georgia, Two sons: Mr. Duane Edward Stepherson and Mr. Dexter Stepherson both of Fitzgerald Georgia.  Two sisters: Mrs. Mary Lee Stepherson Moss of Detroit Michigan and Mrs. Carrie Bell Stepherson Moffett (Thomas) of Fitzgerald Georgia.  One brother Mr. William (Tom) J. Stepherson Jr. of Columbus Ohio.  Two Grandchildren:  Asiah Lachelle Stepherson and Rashid Dijion Stepherson, two great grandchildren: Nayoki Khalia Royal and Kehlani Loa Stewart.  Also a host of Aunts, uncles nieces, nephews cousins relatives and friends.

A home going celebration for Mr. Willie Edward Stepherson aka Bummer is planned for Friday July 27,2018 at 2:00 p.m. from the Friendship Missionary Baptist church 127 Moss Lane Osierfield Georgia.  Minister Cory D. Moss will officiate, Rev. Willie C. Mobley willie deliver the eulogy.  Interment will follow in the Osierfield community cemetery.  Mr. Stepherson will lie in state at the Davis funeral home in Ocilla, Thursday morning 10:00 until.  The family will receive friends Thursday evening at the Davis funeral home chapel 7:00 until 9:00p.m.  Mr. Stepherson also will lie state at the church on Friday 12:30 p.m. until the funeral hour.  The Davis funeral home of Ocilla has charge of all arrangements.
