Mother Alice Lawton Hardy
The family and friends of the late mother Alice Lawton Hardy of 508 East 11th Street, Ocilla Georgia will regret to learn of her death on Saturday morning January 9 2016 at the Palemon Gaskin Nursing home in Ocilla Georgia. Born August 30, 1933 in Irwin county (Holt community), Mother Hardy was the daughter of the late Isaac Lawton Sr. and Mary Wiggins Lawton.
Mother Hardy was the wife of the late Arthur Lee Hardy whom she met and married in December 1952. Mr. Hardy preceded her in death on September 27, 2008.
Mother Hardy leaves to cherish her memories: Five daughters, Mrs. Sandra (Herbert) Wilcox, Mrs. Veronica Wilcox, Minister Lynn McClendon, Mrs. Karen (Carey) Middlebrooks, Mrs. Daphana (Tony) Wynn all of Ocilla, Georgia. Three sisters, Mrs. Mary (Clarence) Dunn, Mrs. Carolyn Roberts, and Mrs. Clinie (James) Lilly all of Miami Fla. Two brothers, Mr. Frank Lawton of Miami Fla. and Mr. Isaac Lawton Jr. of Tifton Georgia. One Aunt, Mrs. Lucille Wiggins of Ocilla Georgia. 17 Grand children, 34 Great Grand children, and 2 Great great grand children. A host of in-laws nieces, nephews, cousins relatives and friends.
Funeral services for Mother Alice Lawton Hardy will be held on Saturday January 16, 2016 at 1:00 P.M. from the Pleasant Grove 1st. Baptist Church located at 215 East 7th Street Ocilla Georgia 31774 where the Rev. James C. Curtis is pastor. Interment will follow in the Ocilla city cemetery.
Mother Hardy will lie in state at the Davis funeral home in Ocilla from Friday morning 10:00 a.m. until 7:00 p.m. and Saturday morning until the funeral hour.
