Annie Ruth Randall was called Home to glory on August 15, 2014. The daughter of the late Nathaniel and Faye Bell McClain, Sr. Annie entered the world on April 8, 1947 in Ocilla, Georgia. She was preceded in death by her sister, Irene McClain and her brother, Nathaniel “Jack” McClain.
Known to her family and friends as “Cricket”, she attended Ocilla High and Industrial School where she was active in athletics, especially basketball. Annie accepted Christ as her Lord and Savior at a young age and was an active member of Canaan Baptist Church in Columbus, Georgia. She volunteered her time at Dexter Elementary School and Faith Middle School, both in Fort Benning, Georgia.
Annie had a feisty spirit and always made people laugh with her funny sayings. She had a knack for interior decorating and often decorated the homes of many of her family and friends. She had a passion for shopping and was always dressed to the nines from head to toe. Annie usually cooked to feed an army even if only a few people were coming to eat. Her specialties were her potato salad, fried chicken and fried fish.
Leaving to cherish her memory are her loving husband of 40 years, Lieutenant Colonel William Lewis Randall of Midland, Georgia; four devoted children: Sheila Denise (Ronald) Holmes of Miami, Florida, Gwendolyn Latrail (Clifford) Curtis of Jacksonville, Florida, Lamar Randall of Phenix City, Alabama and Michael Leron (April) Randall of Columbus, Georgia; three treasured granddaughters: Stephanie Denise Curtis of Gainesville, Florida, Katreasa Shavette Curtis of Jacksonville, Florida and Raven Alexandria Holmes of Miami, Florida; sister-in-law, Linda Randall of Eastman, Georgia; brother-in-law, Charles (Patty Sue) Randall of Eastman, Georgia; an honorary sister, Levonia Wright of Tampa, Florida; nephews: Shawn Cornelius McClain of Tifton, Georgia, Anthony Randall of Eastman, Georgia, and Darrell Randall of Eastman, Georgia; Nieces: Ashley Randall of Eastman, Georgia and Sharon “Sherell” McClain of Ocilla, Georgia; one great-nephew, Shawn Cornelius McClain Jr.; and a host of other family and friends.
